Harvey & the Moonglows

Not linked to the Moonglows aside from the current presence of Harvey Fuqua mainly because leader and business lead vocalist, Harvey & the Moonglows’ additional members within their preliminary lineup were Marvin Gaye, Reese Palmer, James Knowland, and Chester Simmons, almost all recruited simply by Fuqua wholesale away of their original group, called the Marquees, from Washington, D.C. Gaye was to sing business lead on the 1959 solitary “Mama Loocie,” his 1st business lead vocal on an archive, and lasted with Fuqua through many lineup changes. Ultimately Harvey & the Moonglows crossed pathways and lineups with the first Spinners, before Fuqua ceased producing recordings for his personal little label Tri-Phi and relocated to Motown. A latter-day edition from the Moonglows performed on the 1999 PBS tv unique, and a Fuqua-led edition of the group documented up to date renditions of traditional R&B favorites for the next Harvey & the Moonglows 2000 record released on Fuqua’s Resurging Musician label. Fuqua passed away of a coronary attack at a Detroit medical center on July 6, 2010; he was 80 years previous.
