Harry Taussig issued an obscure, privately pressed recording of classical guitar instrumentals in 1965, Destiny IS Once, which was similar to John Fahey in its mix of folk, blues, and stark Americana. Taussig, actually, is simply as obscure because the fairly unidentified Robbie Basho as Basho would be to Fahey. The record was perhaps one of the most sought-after collector’s components of American Primitive electric guitar music. The only real various other recordings that Taussig released appeared on the 1967 compilation, Modern Guitar Spring and coil ’67, which since it occurred also highlighted Fahey (whose Takoma label released the LP) and Basho, in addition to Utmost Ochs and Bukka Light. Destiny Is Only Was previously ultimately reissued on Compact disc in 2006. In August of 2012, Taussig, after getting endlessly prodded and prompted by Tompkins Square Information’ label employer Josh Rosenthal, released his follow-up, entitled, appropriately, Destiny Is Only Double.
