Harry Skoler

Clarinetist Harry Skoler followed firmly in the custom of his idol Benny Goodman, resurrecting the vintage music from the golf swing period for appreciative modern audiences. Given birth to in Syracuse, NY, in 1956, Skoler was launched to Goodman’s music while still a teenager; announcing his motives to become professional jazz clarinetist, in the years to check out he also added saxophone, flute, and piano to his repertoire before graduating from the Berklee University of Music in 1978. A three-year period in Nashville adopted, during which period he performed with jazz organizations, trained privately, and 1st entered the documenting studio. Getting intrigued with structures, Skoler then made a decision to research style at Syracuse University or college, but while in NY came back to music by taking part in regional jam classes. His dedication to jazz restored, he consequently enrolled at the brand new Britain Conservatory, where he analyzed under Jimmy Giuffre and graduated in 1986 having a master’s level in jazz research. Having a quartet made up of vibraphonist/pianist Ed Saindon, bassist Roger Kimball, and drummer Tim Gilmore, in 1995 Skoler released his debut LP, Discussions in the Language of Jazz; Reflections around the Artwork of Swing made an appearance a year later on, and, in 1999, he came back with A Function of Heart.
