Harry (Henry) Thacker Burleigh

This African-American singer and composer had little formal training during his youth but was accepted in to the National Conservatory of Music. He became a pal of the after that movie director, Antonin Dvorak. Burleigh’s released works consist of “Jubile Tunes of the united states,” numerous artwork songs and configurations of spirituals for solitary voices, piano and violin. Maybe his most well-known function was “Deep River.”
