Harmony Sisters

Created by Alice Gerrard (b. 8 July 1934, Seattle, Washington, USA; vocals/acoustic guitar/banjo/fiddle), Irene Herrmann (vocals/mandolin/cello/fiddle) and Jeanie McLerie (b. NJ, USA; vocals/electric guitar/fiddle), this group produced its initial appearance on record in the first 80s. Gerrard’s musical lifestyle encompasses very much early American music and through her recordings, concerts and founding from the music mag, The Old-Time Herald, did much to protect this important traditions. She is popular on her behalf bluegrass playing and has already established a successful relationship in duo with Hazel Dickens, offers performed with Mike Seeger (whom she wedded), and was an associate of the Unusual Creek Performers. Herrmann is usually a classically qualified cellist and pianist, focusing on twentieth-century American composers and chamber music.
