Harlem River Drive

Eddie Palmieri’s supergroup Harlem River Get was the initial group to essentially merge dark and Latin designs and musicians, producing a free-form brew of salsa, funk, spirit, jazz, and fusion. Though it had been led by pianist Palmieri, the group also included exceptional players from both Latin community (his sibling Charlie, Victor Venegas, Andy Gonsalez) as well as the dark globe (Bernard “Quite” Purdie, Ronnie Cuber). Called simply because an ironic mention of the brand new York City road which allowed mostly suburban motorists to bypass East Harlem completely on their method to lessen Manhattan, Harlem River Drive released their groundbreaking debut record in 1970 on Roulette, including Latin and underground membership hits just like the name monitor and “Seed products of Lifestyle.” However, Harlem River Drive was their just album, although group did show up co-billed on Eddie Palmieri’s two-part 1972 discharge, Live at Sing Sing, Vols. 1-2.
