Happyness

London-based trio Happyness mixed dreamy indie rock melodies that took inspiration from ’90s indie clothes such as for example Sparklehorse and Pavement, while intertwining purposeful, wry, 21st hundred years humor with their brooding tunes. Having known one another throughout their teenagers — that they had been in several other rings before they created Happyness — vocalist/guitarist Benji Compston, vocalist/bassist Jonny Allan, and drummer Ash Cooper discovered themselves together composing music inside a studio room under railway arches in Bermondsey, South London. After shows under a few different monikers, the three-piece finally resolved on Happyness, and go about touring the U.K. These were soon found by indie label Strange Smiling and joined the studio room immediately after to record their debut record, Weird Small Birthday. Released in 2014, the record featured support vocals from Saffron Le Bon, and included the one, “Great Minds Believe Alike, All Brains Flavor The Same.” In 2015, Strange Small Birthday was re-released in america on Club/None Records. The next season, the five-track EP Tunnel Eyesight on Your Component previewed the greater consistently reflective shade (and two tracks) off their self-produced sophomore LP, Write In, which found its way to 2017 via Club/Nothing and Moshi Moshi.
