Austrian-born singer/guitarist Hans Platzgumer initial achieved notice in the first ’90s, soon after relocating to NEW YORK with compatriot and longtime collaborator Frank Puempel (bass/vocals) and forming the psychedelic alt-rock act H.P. Zinker. Documented using a drum machine, their debut EP, 1989’s …And THERE IS Light forged an extremely eclectic audio, flirting with from folk to jazz to rock, and also been the first discharge ever by indie label Matador. Many lineup adjustments and a string of LPs implemented, frequently garnering great compliment in the underground press, before band’s break up in 1995.
