Considered probably one of the most essential choral conductors from the postwar period, Gillesberger started his formal research both in church music and jurisprudence in Innsbruck and in Vienna. Gillesberger was the musical movie director from the Vienna Boy’s Choir from 1942 to 1945. Then was involved in the positioning of deputy movie director from the choir for the Vienna Condition Opera. In 1961, he became a teacher in the Wiener Musikhochschule (Vienna Academy of Music) and in 1965, he was once again from the Wiener Sängerknaben (Vienna Boy’s Choir), in the positioning of artistic movie director. His recorded function focuses especially around the functions of J.S. Bach; the Classical period functions of Franz Josef Haydn and W.A. Mozart; as well as the Intimate era expressed with the compositions of Franz Schubert, Franz Liszt, and Anton Bruckner.
