Hal Galper

A fantastic if generally overlooked advanced very difficult bop pianist, Hal Galper studied at Berklee (1955-1958) and worked in lots of groupings, including with Chet Baker, Stan Getz, the Brecker Brothers, Bobby Hutcherson, with such singers simply because Joe Williams, Chris Connor, and Anita O’Day. He performed electric powered piano (a musical instrument he provides since lowered) using the Cannonball Adderley Quintet during its last years (1973-1975) and spent period using Lee Konitz and John Scofield. Galper, that has recorded being a head for Mainstream, SteepleChase, Enja, Concord (including a single established at Maybeck Recital Hall), and Blackhawk, obtained his greatest reputation to be a pianist with Phil Woods’ quartet/quintet from 1981 to 1990.
