Guitar Slim, Jr.

Even though his initial album earned a Grammy nomination, Guitar Slim Jr. continues to be a relatively shadowy figure towards the blues community. The kid of Eddie “Electric guitar Slim” Jones, his true name is normally Rodney Armstrong. Based on New Orleans-historian Jeff Hannusch’s records on Slim’s 1988 record, he “is a fixture over the Dark New Orleans membership circuit for the better section of twenty years…[but] doesn’t reach play the posher uptown night clubs.” His Orleans record featured mostly addresses of his father’s inspirational blues, which he was loath to try out earlier in lifestyle, but Slim can be known for his comprehensive soul repertoire.
