Grotto

Twin Town punk group Grotto initial started playing together if they were freshmen in senior high school, in the wintertime of 1995. Their initial shows had been sporadic and dispersed throughout the punk night clubs of Minneapolis and St. Paul, and apart from launching one 7″ in the springtime of 1998, the music group dwelt in comparative underground obscurity. The music group took a brief break in the springtime of 1999 as bass participant Mike Dombrowski was bitten with the post-high college travel bug. The rest of the associates, guitarist and vocalist Chris Mishek and drummer Jeff Dark brown, played and documented with miscellaneous Twin City bands of differing profile, like the Hidden Chord, Sean Na Na, as well as the short-lived Pushbutton 3. When Dombrowski came back from his sojourns, Grotto regrouped and documented their debut full-length, Get yourself a Hustle, with regional engineer/musician Mike Wisti (Rank Strangers, Pocket Genius, Incredible Jolly Machine) at his well-known Albatross studio room. The recording, a raucous stream of snotty but melodic hardcore, premiered on Contemporary Radio information to regional acclaim in January of 2000. After several successful regional gigs to get the record, the music group embarked on an extended tour from the southern and eastern parts of the U.S. In Dec of that yr, Grotto documented the Sicker Liquor CDEP, that was released in the summertime of 2001 for the St. Paul-based imprint Two times Indemnity records.
