Though Gringo Superstar is decidedly not really the Latin Beatles tribute band its name might suggest, the outfit does deal in Fab-esque vocal harmonies and jangly Rickenbacker guitars, albeit having a neo-garage rock edge that’s as very much Chicago since it is Cavern Membership. Brothers Nick Furgiuele and Peter Furgiuele, plus Pete Delorenzo and Matt McCalvin, originally known as themselves A Fir-Ju Prior to adopting their brand-new name. The Atlanta-based combo’s debut record, 2008’s All Y’all, leaned toward the poppier end from the ‘60s garage area spectrum, complementing punk-ish energy with bubblegum melodies, shaking tambourine and reverb-y browse electric guitar lines, all while concealing socially-conscious lyrics within the catchy music. Also known because of their admirable live function ethic, the combo taken the neat technique of garnering enthusiastic interest from critics and supporters alike. The music group inked a cope with Brooklyn-based Gigantic Music for 2011’s acclaimed Count number Yer Lucky Superstars, but thought we would go the unbiased path for 2013’s self-released Floating Out to Ocean. The Edges and AMONG, the band’s 4th studio room long-player and initial for Nevado Music, fell in August 2016.
