Greg Burk

Post-bop pianist Greg Burk was created in Lansing, MI, to parents both energetic in classical music. He examined piano from a age group, sometimes along with his improv-minded grandmother, and became a member of his high school’s jazz music group while playing gigs for pay out privately. He researched at UMass-Amherst with Yusef Lateef and Archie Shepp, and completed his bachelor’s level at the College or university of Michigan. After university, he shifted to Bratislava, Slovakia, and toured central European countries with his personal trio to get a year before coming back home. Burk strike the jazz picture in Detroit and Ann Arbor hard, honing his efficiency and compositional abilities with famous brands Wayne Carter, Rodney Whitaker, and Gerald Cleaver, among numerous others. At age group 25, he moved into the New Britain Conservatory of Music, where he finished his master’s level with educators like George Russell, Danilo Perez, and Paul Bley, the second option of whom became a significant impact on his strategy. Burk subsequently continued to be in Boston to execute and record like a sideman. Burk documented his first single piano Compact disc, Progressions and Digressions, shortly after graduating, and in 1999 he became an associate professor in the Berklee College of Music. He also performed keyboards in the fusion clothing Extra fat Dragon, which released the album Fantasy After a big Lunch time in 2000, and shaped Jumping Bach with guitarist Garrison Fewell, which organized Bach styles for jazz quartet. Burk became a member of the reconstituted Either/Orchestra and made an appearance being a pianist and composer on the 2002 record Afro-Cubism.
