Greg Ashley

Alongside fronting the Gris Gris and working the Creamery recording studio, singer, songwriter, and guitarist Greg Ashley also performs like a single artist, focusing on the delicately trippy psych-folk that occasionally gets into his band’s louder, more unstable music. Past due in 2003, Birdman released his debut recording, Medicine Fuck Desire, which drew evaluations to Mayo Thompson and Roky Erickson. Ashley’s second single album, Painted Backyard, showed up early in 2007, and even though it had substantially cleaner creation than his debut, it distributed exactly the same free-flowing songwriting and surreal lyrics. This year 2010 he decreased the totally experimental Requiem Mass & Additional Tests on Birdman. The starting title monitor (a complete side of a typical LP) may be the preeminent function here, as the rest includes a series of smaller sized musical and sonic ventures. In 2014, Ashley came back with his initial album for Difficulty at heart, the comparatively humble and low-key established Another Era of Slaves.
