Originally from Searcy, Arkansas, this punk trio moved to Olympia, WA, joining the roster from the indie rock label K Records. Guitarist Nathan (aka Brace Paine), drummer Kathy, and vocalist Beth Ditto proclaimed, “We began a music group ‘trigger we were bored stiff. Our mission would be to cause you to dance, and when you are not gonna dance, simply stay in the home and pay attention to the oldies place.” K released a self-titled 7″ in 1999, and their full-length debut, THAT ISN’T What I Noticed, was written by Eliminate Rock Superstars in past due 2000. The Gossip had been highly visible because of their exposure in journals like Out as well as the Advocate, where they truly became icons within the lgbt indie rock and roll community. After touring using the Light Stripes and Sleater-Kinney, they returned to the studio room to record a follow-up, 2002’s Arkansas Temperature EP. They came back the following season with Movement, while Nathan also performed with Die Monitr Batss. New drummer Hannah Billie became a member of the Gossip before they documented 2005’s Standing in the form of Control, which included components of dance-punk to their organic, immediate sound. GSSP RMX, which additional emphasized their even more danceable direction, premiered in 2006.
