Gospel Hummingbirds

The Gospel Hummingbirds play a combined mix of traditional gospel (within the style like the Swan Silvertones, among the Hummers’ chief inspirations) and contemporary electrified blues- and soul-injected gospel. For days gone by couple decades, they will have performed at spiritual gatherings, nightclubs, rock and roll concerts and blues celebrations, but no matter where they perform, their joyful praises of God remain exactly the same. The Oakland-based group have already been together because the 1970s and had been founded by the daddy of lead vocalist and bass guitarist Joe A. Thomas, who started playing bass using the Hummingbirds when he was just eight. By 1995, all of those other lineup included Roy Tyler, Clarence Nichols, Adam Gibson, Jr. and Tag Smith, Sr.
