Gordon Brisker

An excellent tenor saxophonist who was simply an underrated journeyman throughout a lot of his profession, Gordon Brisker was usually known for his dependability and adaptability. Given birth to in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 6, 1937, he began playing piano as a kid, so when he was an adolescent he analyzed clarinet and tenor in the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. Brisker performed locally (including using the Ralph Marterie Orchestra) before going to the Berklee College of Music. He toured for half a year using the Al Belletto Sextet and, after gigging back with Expenses Berry, he joined up with the Woody Herman Orchestra during 1960-1963. Brisker spent an interval residing in NEW YORK following the Herman association finished, freelancing with Louie Bellson, Gerry Mulligan, among others. Over time back Cincinnati composing and carrying out for local tv shows, he transferred to LA. Brisker became a active studio room musician by time, gigging in night clubs during the night. He came back to Boston to instruct at Berklee during 1983-1985 (also to compose agreements for the Supplement Pomeroy Orchestra) before shifting back to LA. His more significant profession organizations included Anita O’Day, Bobby Shew, Rosemary Clooney, Tony Bennett, and command of his very own bands.
