Another branch in the Gong family tree, Gongzilla was a reassembly of many of the members of early Pierre Moerlin’s Gong and played an identical design jazz-rock fusion. Created in 1994 by guitarist Ben Lozaga and bassist Hansford Rowe, the group was curved out by guitarist Allan Holdsworth, percussionist Bobby Thomas Jr., and vibraphonist Beniot Moerlen. They released Suffer in 1995, which discovered the band discovering even more hard rock and roll stylings than Piere Moerlin’s Gong. The recording was ranked the quantity three fusion recording of the entire year by Pulse!. Thrive adopted in 1996 which added drummer Gary Spouse and guitarist David Torn towards the mix while offering Rowe on vocals.
