Gold Leaves

Gold Leaves may be the single project of Offer Olsen, half from the Seattle-based folk-psych revivalist duo Arthur & Yu. Olsen, inspired from the eclectic ‘60s songcraft of performers like Fred Neil, Miss Spence, and Scott Walker, started focusing on his single debut in 2007, and then go back to square one after his laptop computer and notes had been taken. The intervening years noticed many life adjustments for Olsen: relationship, travel abroad, as well as the delivery and loss of life of family members, lending a fresh perspective towards the project. By using Jason Quever (Papercuts) both behind and before the mike, along with percussionist Ben McConnell (Seaside Home, Au Revoir Simone) and support vocalists Thao Nguyen (Thao using the Obtain Down Stay Down, Thao & Mirah), Amy Blaschke (Night time Canopy, Without the Carry) and rootsy indie rock and roll clothing the Moondoggies, Platinum Leaves released full-length debut The Ornament for Barely Art in summer time 2011, an autumnal mixture of Olsen’s ragged vocals with soul-meets-’60s psychedelia plans.
