Glossary

Shaped in 1997 in Murfreesboro, TN, Glossary melded its disparate affects — Modest Mouse, Sonic Youth, Pavement, Neil Young, and ’80s country music — right into a guitar-driven type of American rock and roll & move. Frontman Joey Kneiser, bassist Bingham Barnes, keyboardist Maggie Gresham, and guitarists Jason Manley and Gregory Jacks comprised the band’s initial lineup, which produced its debut in 1998 by launching Southern with the Sophistication of Location with the band’s very own Champ Information label. Another record, All We’ve LEARNED ALL ABOUT Living, followed 2 yrs afterwards. Glossary’s lineup fluctuated through the early 2000s, with Joey Kneiser often remaining on the forefront. The band’s audio became consistent, nevertheless, and Glossary released some albums (like the local favorite HOW EXACTLY WE Deal with Our Midnights) that merged Southern twang with a lot of acoustic guitar muscle. Feral Open fire appeared this year 2010, offering another modified lineup — Kneiser and Barnes had been the only real remnants from the band’s initial incarnation — and another batch of alt.nation rock and roll songs.
