Gloria Shayne

Although composer Gloria Shayne authored some pop hits, she remains most widely known for the present day Christmastime traditional “Carry out You Hear What I Hear?,” created in cooperation with spouse Noel Regney. Created Gloria Adele Shain in Brookline, Massachusetts on Sept 4, 1923, she gained a bachelor’s level through the Boston University College of Music, afterwards working being a pianist, arranger and history vocalist for composers including Irving Berlin. Through the past due 1950s she surfaced being a pop author of significant industrial renown, penning strikes including Adam Darren’s “Goodbye Cruel Globe” and Mike Douglas’ “The Guys in My Small Girl’s Lifestyle”–after marrying Regney (a classically-trained pianist who, drafted against his will to serve alongside the Nazis during Globe Battle II, became a clandestine person in the French level of resistance), Shayne shifted her emphasis to composing lyrics, with her brand-new hubby composing melodies. The few even so swapped their traditional assignments for “Perform You Listen to What I Listen to?,” a plea for tranquility created in 1962 amid the Cuban Missile Turmoil. First popularized by Bing Crosby, whose rendition marketed more than one million copies, “Perform You Listen to What I Listen to?” soon accomplished holiday perennial position, with following recordings by performers including Robert Goulet, Gladys Knight & the Pips and Destiny’s Kid. Shayne and Regney divorced in 1973, using the latter loss of life in 2002–after an extended bout with cancers, Shayne passed away at her Stamford, Connecticut house on March 6, 2008.
