The duo Glider found life in 1999 being a mail-only project, as they say. Their initial full-length record, With Sea Between, arrived in July 2001. Gavin Baker, a guitarist located in London, Britain, and head of the group Billy Mahonie, and Pascal Asselin, drummer for the Quebec instrumental clothing Below the ocean, were introduced one to the other via e-mail with a shared friend. Alert to each other’s music, they made a decision to type a duo, despite the fact that they were divide over the Atlantic. Asselin documented a couple of drum monitors, to which Baker added the guitars. An initial single, Glider Music, premiered on Johnny Kane Information in July 2000 (of which period the drummer flew to London, the very first time both associates of Glider stood in the same area), accompanied by another one, They Contact Themselves Glider, on Bearos Information, in January 2001. Their laid-back, basic instrumental tunes collected good reviews in the substitute/post-rock press as well as got some publicity on John Peel’s radio present. The complete record arrived in middle-2001, but had not been supported by any live concerts, both music artists getting on tour using their respective bands.
