An intriguing mixture of synth pop, indie, and hip-hop influences, Glass Pets are an Oxford, England-based music group featuring singer/guitarist Dave Bayley, guitarist/keyboardist Drew MacFarlane, bassist/keyboardist Edmund Irwin-Singer and drummer Joe Seaward. Bayley and Seaward had been childhood close friends, but didn’t begin making music collectively until they completed school. Bayley have been composing and recording tracks in his free time, and eventually drafted Seaward, MacFarlane and Irwin-Singer to try out with him. While these were still at college or university they released their debut EP, Leaflings, in 2012. Though Bayley decided to visit medical college after graduation, Cup Pets captured the interest of acclaimed maker Paul Epworth, who authorized these to his label Wolf Shade in 2013 and released the Cup Pets EP, including the solitary “Dark Mambo.” In 2014, the music group released their debut recording, Zaba, which combined consumer electronics with indie acoustic guitar music and was co-produced by Bayley and Epworth.
