Girolamo Diruta

This teacher, organist and music theorist was prominent and well-versed in his discipline and on his instrument. Diruta’s main contribution towards the musical corpus of books was “Il tansilvano dialogo sopra il vero modo di sonor organi, et istromenti da penna”. This dialogue included the majority of his essential compositional functions (tocattas, hymns, magnificat configurations, etudes) apart from some motets. The compositions included therein include research for each conceivable required exercise and explanations of body organ technique which were as particular as the sitting position from the player on the body organ. Diruta engaged conversations concerning the distinctions in body organ and harpsichord efficiency aswell as a protracted set of guidelines for composition.
