Giovanni Guidi

Giovanni Guidi can be an Italian jazz pianist who’s popular on Europe’s jazz picture so that as a regular collaborator with trumpeter Enrico Rava. Guidi provides delivered in Foligno and examined piano from an extremely early age; he pursued it as his exclusive vocation. His principal instructor through his college and into conservatory was Ramberto Ciammarughi. By participating in summer workshops, he was observed by Rava, who recruited him for just one of his today well-known “Under 21” groupings. Guidi documented two live albums with this music group in 2006 and 2009 for the Editoriale l’Espresso label. He also made an appearance on two from the trumpeter’s ECM albums, Tribe in ’09 2009 and On the Dance Flooring in 2012. Furthermore, he is a sideman on recordings by saxophonist Mauro Negri, guitarist Roberto Cecchetto, and drummers Tommaso Cappellato and Fabrizio Sferra. He in addition has been an associate of Gianluca Petrella’s Cosmic Music group and made an appearance on two of their recordings. Guidi released his debut record being a head at age 21 using the trio time Tomorrow Never Has learned on Venus in 2006, and implemented it with some acclaimed recordings on Cam Jazz. The initial two had been self-titled quartet periods in 2007 and 2008, respectively. This year 2010, he released his debut big-band providing, The Unidentified Rebel Music group, modeled in the affects of Charlie Haden’s Liberation Music Orchestra, the Independence Now Suite music group of Potential Roach, as well as the Carla Bley Big Music group. His first NY documenting with Petrella, drummer Gerald Cleaver, bassist Thomas Morgan, and saxophonist Michael Blake, entitled We Don’t Live Right here Anymore, was released in 2011. That same season Guidi agreed upon with ECM. His debut for the label, Town of Broken Dreams, was a trio time, documented with Morgan and longstanding drummer João Lobo. The record premiered in June of 2013. In 2015, Guidi came back with another trio work for ECM, This is actually the Day.
