Giovanni Battista Moscaglia

The majority of Moscaglia’s existence was spent he Rome. He offered in the Cappella Giulia until 1560 but following this date there is absolutely no indicator of his musical visit(s). He asked several composers with whom he was familiar to create his poems to music. These composers included Nanino, Macque, Stabile, Zoilo, Giovanelli and Marenzio. Evidently he didn’t think that he previously plenty of time at his removal to render these poems correctly into musical forms. Several books of madrigals by Moscaglia had been imprinted during his life time. A lot of the madrigals had been arranged for either 3 or 4 voices. These functions appeared in several different anthologies including transcriptions for lute by Joachim vehicle der Hove.
