Giovanni Battista Fontana

Giovanni Battista Fontana may history for just one only publication, which is apparently a posthumous collection hastily assembled from manuscript resources. It comprises six sonatas for violin and bass and six even more for just two violins and bass. The publication says that he was from Brescia and worked well in various towns in Italy, but nothing at all else is well known about him. The collection was released in 1641 as well as the 12 sonatas are among the initial for the reason that form and so are considered very important to that cause. The music is fairly polyphonic in conception, with also the bass range acting even more as another individual tone of voice than as a genuine foundational bass. The sonatas are entitled in order that they could be performed by violin, coronet, bassoon, chitarrone, cello, or identical different instruments.
