Perhaps one of the most requested modern arrangers and pianists of MPB, Gilson Peranzzetta has already established classical schooling since he was a kid, also getting heavily influenced by jazz and Brazilian instrumental music. Like a composer, he has already established his songs documented by Djavan, Edu Lobo, Leny Andrade, Sarah Vaughan, George Benson, Dianne Schurr, Quincy Jones, Toots Thielemans, Shirley Horn, along with other performers. He continues to be touring extensively with the U.S., European countries, and Japan. His traditional compositions are the suites “Miragem” (for piano and orchestra) and “Metamorfose” (for piano and string quartet). Within the ’60s, Peranzzetta was an associate of the group Samba Jazz, also using Taiguara. He toured European countries using the group Central perform Brasil, and became Ivan Lins’ arranger and pianist for quite some time. His longtime affinity for guitarist Sebastião Tapajós yielded probably the most interesting recording in duo with him, Afinidades.
