Gil Cuppini

Drums, bandleader. Italian drummer Gil Cuppini founded himself through the ’40s. He performed and recorded having a golf swing group in 1947, after that became a member of Hazy Osterwald’s music group in 1949. Through the 1st Paris Jazz Good he followed Armando Trovajoli and Kramer Gorni. Through the ’50s, he double performed and documented with Nunzio Rotondo; Cuppini also became a member of a sextet co-led by Gianni Basso and Oscar Valdambrini and in addition used and offered compositions and plans for small organizations and orchestras that he led. He frequented America in 1958 using the International Youth Music group, then later on perfomed with Teddy Wilson and Arvell Shaw in Brussels. Cuppini broadcast some concerts on RAI in the first ’60s, then produced many albums with Joe Venuti in the first ’70s. From then on, Cuppini worked inside a tempo section with Franco D’Andrea and Giorgio Azzolini that supported many American and Western musicians.
