Gigolo Aunts

Acquiring their name from the Syd Barrett song, the effervescent power-pop unit Gigolo Aunts first arrived together in 1981 in Potsdam, NY as Sniper. The group — made up of vocalist/guitarist Dave Gibbs, brothers Phil and Steve Hurley (on lead acoustic guitar and bass, respectively) and drummer Phil Brouwer — experienced some subsequent titles like Marauder and Rosetta Rock before buying Gigolo Aunts (an indicator from Gibbs’ dad) and shifting to Boston in 1986. In 1988, the music group released its debut Everybody Pleased to small see, and receded from look at until Gibbs started playing acoustic guitar with fellow East Coastline popsters Velvet Crush, whom he became a member of for any U.K. tour. While abroad, Gibbs made several crucial connections with famous brands Creation Information’ Alan McGee as well as the people of Teenage Fanclub, and fascination with the Gigolo Aunts begun to build. Some guaranteed EPs — Gigolo Aunts, Weapon and Full-On Bloom — seemed to solid reviews, as do 1994’s full-length Flippin’ Out. After Gibbs and Phil Hurley rejected offers to become listed on the reunited Big Superstar, they released the 1995 EP Where I Discover My Heaven; soon after its discharge, Phil Hurley was changed by Jon Skibic and Brouwer was changed by Fred Eltringham. Small Chords and Main Themes made an appearance in 1999.
