Getúlio Côrtes

Getúlio Côrtes was probably one of the most important composers from the “Jovem Guarda.” His biggest strike was “Negro Gato,” that was documented by Renato e Seus Blue Hats (in 1965) and Roberto Carlos (in 1966), amongst others, and later on, in the ’70s, by Luís Melodia. Renato e Seus Blue Hats also got success along with his tracks “O Sósia,” “Esqueça e Perdoe,” “Tudo Tem Seu Preço,” “46-77-23,” and “Disse-Me-Disse”; while Roberto Carlos also got strikes with “Noite de Terror,” “Pega Ladrão,” “Quase Fui Lhe Procurar” (also documented by Luís Melodia), “O Tempo Vai Apagar,” “O Feio” (co-written by Renato Barros), “Uma Palavra Amiga,” and “European union Só Tenho Um Caminho.” Because of his impact, his sibling Gerson Côrtes (Gerson Ruler Combo) got his 1st break for the Jovem Guarda display.
