Georgie James

After Washington, D.C.’s Q rather than U known as it quits in 2005, drummer John Davis teamed with vocalist/songwriter Laura Burhenn to create Georgie Adam, a name that identifies an imaginary, androgynous vocalist in the vein of Ziggy Stardust. Using motivation from their shared like for the Zombies, the Kinks, and Simon & Garfunkel, the duo’s harmonies and melodies had been a step from Q rather than U’s more intense, experimental strategy. Burhenn (vocals, key pad) and Davis (vocals, electric guitar, bass, drums) released a three-track solitary, Need YOUR PREFERENCES, through Burhenn’s personal Laboratory Information in early 2007, which adopted limited demos obtainable only at displays. Their debut full-length, Locations, documented with Chad Clark of Beauty Tablet and T.J. Lipple of Aloha, premiered in fall months 2007 by Saddle Creek. Bassist Paul Michel and drummer Andrew Dark complemented the duo during concert events, and Georgie Wayne toured America and European countries to get Places. Nevertheless, the group disbanded in August 2008, with Burhenn and Davis citing the desire to pursue independent projects.
