George Probert

Being a largely self-taught soprano saxophonist and occasional clarinetist, George Probert was among the younger players within the Dixieland revival rings from the 1950’s. Probert acquired important organizations with Bob Scobey (1950-53), Child Ory (1954) and specially the Firehouse Five Plus Two (from 1954 until their last record in 1969). Probert became musical movie director from the Walt Disney Studio room in 1955. In the past three years, the outspoken Probert (a forceful and colourful soprano saxophonist) continues to be section of a many jazz celebrations, but has just recorded several dates like a innovator for Extra fat Cat’s Jazz and, recently, Jazz Crusade.
