George Mraz

George Mraz is a greatly in-demand bassist for straight-ahead times since he emigrated to america in 1968. After a short period playing violin and alto, Mraz analyzed bass in the Prague Conservatory and gigged at a golf club in Munich for any 12 months. In 1968, he went to Berklee and he quickly toured with Oscar Peterson (1970-1972). After shifting to NY, Mraz joined up with the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra (1973-1976), caused Stan Getz (1974-1975), and offers since used a lot of the best jazz players, including Walter Norris, Pepper Adams, Roland Hanna, Zoot Sims, Tommy Flanagan, John Abercrombie, Carmen McRae, Jimmy Rowles, Stephane Grappelli, and countless others. Apart from an obscure duo day with Roland Hanna for Trio in 1976, George Mraz remarkably did not possess a chance to business lead his own classes before mid-’90s when he authorized with Milestone. His recording roster contains Jazz (1995), Bottom level Lines (1997), Duke’s Place (1999), and Morava (2001).
