George Mraz is a greatly in-demand bassist for straight-ahead times since he emigrated to america in 1968. After a short period playing violin and alto, Mraz analyzed bass in the Prague Conservatory and gigged at a golf club in Munich for any 12 months. In 1968, he went to Berklee and he quickly toured with Oscar Peterson (1970-1972). After shifting to NY, Mraz joined up with the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra (1973-1976), caused Stan Getz (1974-1975), and offers since used a lot of the best jazz players, including Walter Norris, Pepper Adams, Roland Hanna, Zoot Sims, Tommy Flanagan, John Abercrombie, Carmen McRae, Jimmy Rowles, Stephane Grappelli, and countless others.
