George Jackson

Songwriter George Jackson wrote or co-wrote strikes for Clarence Carter (the yellow metal solitary “Too Weak to Battle”), Wilson Pickett (“A GUY . 5”), Bob Seger (“Older Time Stone,” “Seeking to Live MY ENTIRE LIFE Without You”) Z.Z. Hill (“Down House Blues”), as well as the Osmonds (the million-selling “One Poor Apple” and “Two times Lovin'”), amongst others. He also many documented Southern soul-flavored singles, charting with “That’s JUST HOW MUCH You Mean if you ask me” and “Aretha, Sing One for me personally.” Created in 1936 in Greenville, MS, Jackson began documenting for Ike Turner’s Prann label in 1963 after presenting himself to Turner once the entertainer performed a concert in Greenville. The one “Nobody Really wants to Cha Cha BESIDE ME” was documented at Cosimo Matassa’s New Orleans studio room. After planing a trip to Memphis, Jackson was rejected by Stax Information, but while there he fulfilled Louis Williams plus they began a vocal group known as the Ovations. Documenting for Goldwax Information, their one “It’s So Great to Maintain Love” managed to get to amount 22 over the R&B graph in 1965. While with Goldwax, Jackson composed for label-mates Adam Carr and Spencer Wiggens. The Ovations split up and Jackson got a single cope with Decca Information beneath the pseudonym Bart Jackson, launching “Wonderful Wish” in 1968. On the recommendation of manufacturer Billy Sherrill, Jackson journeyed to Muscles Shoals, AL, to just work at manufacturer Rick Hall’s Popularity Recording Studio room, where he became an employee songwriter and composed strikes for Clarence Carter and Candi Staton. MGM Information respond the Osmonds seen the hit stock and Jackson posted a song he previously originally created for the Jackson 5. “One Poor Apple” hit number 1 over the pop graphs in early 1971, and remained there for five weeks. Due to the achievement, Jackson was permitted to record some singles for MGM. Through the middle-’80s, Jackson became a member of Malaco Information as an employee songwriter penning strikes for Johnny Taylor, Bobby Bland, Latimore, Denise LaSalle, and Z.Z. Hill. Jackson’s very own album Center to Heart Gather premiered by Hep Me Information in 1991.
