George Evans

Since the later ’90s, George Evans continues to be among Canada’s top ballad singers. He swings parts gently and improvises while having to pay respect towards the lyricist and composer’s first purpose. Because his parents had been within the opera globe, Evans heard a whole lot of traditional music being a youth, combined with the ratings of several Broadway displays. He performed trombone for nine years and in university decided to choose singing, learning as much specifications as he could. Motivated by Mel Tormé, Johnny Hartman, and Billy Eckstine, Evans created his own method of jazz vocalizing. While participating in the faculty Conservatory of Music on the College or university of Cincinnati in the first ’80s, he majored in musical movie theater. It got him time, however when he was in his past due twenties Evans understood that he would be considered a professional vocalist. Evans performed in NY in 1990, relocated to Montreal in 1992, and resolved in Toronto in 1999. He has already established a wide-ranging existence, working like a music archivist; a jazz journalist; and on radio; touring using the Three Crooners; generating compilation information; and documenting six CDs of his personal for the M-Swing and Optimum Jazz labels.
