Georg Graewe

A German pianist and author of beautiful technique, Georg Graewe spent some time working with among the better performers in avant-garde jazz, modern, and improvised music from all over the world; including Uk saxophonist Evan Parker, Swedish saxophonist Mats Gustafsson, American percussionist Gerry Hemingway, Dutch cellist Ernst Reijseger, and Italian trombonist Sebi Tramontana. Created in 1956 in Bochum, Germany, Graewe began playing acoustic guitar in local rock and roll bands while an adolescent. He also experienced jazz, and in 1974, created the Georg Gräwe Quintet. Since, he offers led groups which range from chamber orchestra to trios. For 11 years, beginning in 1982, Graewe aimed the ten-piece chamber outfit, GrubenKlangOrchester, including such extraordinary music artists as Franz Koglmann and Theo Jorgensmann. Since 1989, he has already established a trio with Gerry Hemingway and Ernst Reijseger which has toured European countries and america. Their 1st recording premiered within the HatArt label that 1st year, accompanied by releases over the Music & Arts and Sound Aspects brands, and on Random Acoustics, a label that Georg Graewe made in 1993. He also performs over the FMP, Okka Drive, and Wobbly Rail brands, totaling over 30 recordings. Various other new music performers Graewe spent some time working with consist of Anthony Braxton, Dave Douglas, Joelle Leandre, John Tchicai, Barre Phillips, Ken Vandermark, and so many more. Graewe’s are a composer contains compositions for symphony orchestras, chamber music, and functions for single piano. The finish from the 1990s discovered him leading a quartet with reedsman Frank Gratkowski, Chicago jazz percussionist Hamid Drake, and bassist Kent Kessler; executing in an organization known as Torque with Melvyn Poore and Peter truck Bergen; and touring the U.S. with Reijseger and Hemingway.
