Genocide

Japanese rock band Genocide might have consider their name from a Judas Priest song (among the many groups to take action, actually), but almost anything else about their sound was evidently motivated with the idiosyncratic and instantly recognizable function of Denmark’s Mercyful Destiny. Not initially, needless to say, since Genocide was originally produced in 1979, that was many years before Ruler Gemstone and his merry satanic guys arrived, but certainly by enough time they released their debut record, Dark Sanctuary, in 1988 following a two-year hold off. Something of the obscure rock gem in its correct, the LP even so discovered vocalist Toshihiro Takeuchi emulating Diamond’s falsetto vocals, while his cohorts, guitarists Kazuo Amaya and Kouichi Kawakami, bassist Shigeo Kawasaki, and drummer Yasushi Kojima, do their best to create unique sounding agreements, within the same maverick heart as Mercyful Destiny. However, Genocide’s revisionist formulation didn’t seduce more than enough consumers as well as the music group acquired folded by 1990 — and then re-form with a fresh tempo section (bassist Hiroki Motono and drummer Takeshi Hattori) for reunion displays in 1999 and an eventual live record, The Rites, in 2001.
