Cologne’s Genf uses their instrument history and combines it using their electronic music knowledge to attain a audio that lies somewhere within electronic and ambient funk. Before getting the Genf trio, Oliver Brand (drums and consumer electronics), Olaf Karnik (electric guitar), and Jens Massel (consumer electronics) had many years of knowledge already in it. Brand performed in the indie rock and roll rings Weiter and Elektro. Karnik provides many years of DJing knowledge using the brands Shack Attack, Audio Gallery, and Soulful Shack. Finally, Jens Massel have been launching ambient music beneath the name Kandis. The three German guys consider their past music knowledge and try to create a stability between analog and digital resources. With each monitor they try to make use of drums, guitars, and various other live instruments as much as they make use of their samplers and synthesizers. Their initial album, Rohgenf, premiered on Cologne-based label Finlayson. Their second record, Transfer/Export, and a remix 12″ was hosted by Compost Information.
