Gene Bertoncini

One of the most elegant, tasteful, and private guitarists, Gene Bertoncini offers perfected the artwork of performing soft, sentimental music and presenting it all inside a light, liquid style, yet retaining a amount of feeling and spontaneity. He started on acoustic guitar at nine and was a specialist at 16, playing on the children’s tv program. Bertoncini took structures at Notre Dame instead of music, though he later on came back to full-time playing. He used an organization led by Friend Wealthy that also included Mike Mainieri and Sam Many. Bertoncini caused Clark Terry, Paul Winter season, Nancy Wilson, and in the tv screen orchestras of Merv Griffin and Skitch Henderson within the ’60s.
