Gatas Parlament

Among the initial Norwegian rap functions to rap entirely in Norwegian (defeat out with a 12 months by Stale Stiil’s Yo), Gatas Parlament took in the mantle of political rap within their homeland and held it all since their inception. Created in 1993 (though renamed themselves Gatas Parlament in response to a right-wing politician’s cries once they experienced thrown rotten meals at him), the group includes brothers Elling and Aslak Borgersrud, along with DJ Don Martin. Musically, the group noises reminiscent sometimes from the Jurassic 5, having a playful back-and-forth move the mic design. At other occasions, the group can audio more menacing, going for a web page from the general public Enemy playbook. Beyond their music itself, the group will use lyrics from your far-left political range, railing against the Bush administration and Norway’s participation in various issues. This has used the proper execution of lyrical protest (as with “Anti-American Dance”), but in addition has gone as far as to add a work for the Norwegian congress by Elling Borgersrund (having a Marxist alliance) and a mainly satirical site soliciting efforts for the assassination of George W. Bush (which got the interest from the U.S. Embassy in Norway, amongst others). The group is constantly on the march ahead both politically and musically, collaborating with ska group Hopalong Knut in 2007 and liberating 2008’s Kidsa Har Alltid Rett, which damaged the very best Ten.
