Gas Mark 5

This group formed following demise of the united kingdom folk dance band Flowers And Frolics. The original line-up highlighted Dan Quinn (b. 11 Oct 1949, Grimsby, South Humberside, Britain; melodeon), Nick Havell (b. Nicholas George Havell, 7 January 1951, Stratford, London, Britain; bass trombone/piano), Trevor Bennett (b. 4 August 1945, Grantham, Lincolnshire, Britain; tenor and alto trombones, blowing wind synthesiser, keyboards), Rob Gifford (b. 1 March 1955, Wanstead, London, Britain; drums/percussion), and Chris Taylor (mouth area organs/melodeon/electric guitar) met up in 1985. Taylor acquired formerly been using the Oyster Music group. Quinn still left in November 1989, and his place was used by Terry Mann (b. 6 Oct 1963, Barking, London, Britain; electric guitar/soprano saxophone/melodeons/bass/blowing wind synthesizer). The ultimate line-up, between 1993 and 1996, highlighted Bennett, Gifford, Taylor, Michael Davidson (bass/electric guitar) and Dave Blackmore (saxophone/keyboards). Frequently noticed at folk celebrations, and essentially a dance music group, the group drew their materials from both British isles Isles and somewhere else, unlike their predecessors, Blooms And Frolics, who specific in English nation dance.
