Among the best jazz authors of his era, Gary Giddins is best-known for his longtime use the Village Tone of voice which he joined in 1973. Furthermore, he has created occasional items for jazz mags, worked like a disk jockey, founded the short-lived American Jazz Orchestra in 1985 and created many books including Ridin’ ON THE Blue Notice, Rhythm-A-Ning, Celebrating Parrot (also consulting on the documentary tied along with the Charlie Parker publication), Satchmo along with a biography of Bing Crosby.
