A fiddler in the Tennessee-North Carolina boundary, G.B. Grayson was one of the primary to record many folk criteria, including “Tom Dooley,” “The Banking institutions from the Ohio,” and “Teach 45.” Blessed in 1888, he was blinded as a child and became a musician. A lot of his greatest recordings for Victor had been made out of Henry Whitter, a guitarist and harmonica participant. Possibly the longest-lasting (because of its revival within the ’50s with the Kingston Trio), “Tom Dooley” was a melody dear to Grayson’s center — his grand uncle, a NEW YORK sheriff, had imprisoned Tom Dooley himself. Grayson passed away in 1930, the sufferer of a car accident.
