Fumiya Fujii

The lead singer from the Checkers for quite some time, Fumiya Fujii afterwards struck from his own for the solo career, with as much popular success as his former band. Blessed in Kurume Town, Fukuoka on July 11, 1962, he produced the Checkers with vocalists Yoshihiko Takamoku and Masaharu Tsuruku, sax participant Naoyuki Fujii, guitarist Tohru Takeuchi, bassist Yuji Ohdoi and drummer Yoshiya Tokunaga. Fujii was the frontman for the music group during the period of 13 albums through the 1980s and ’90s, but started his solo profession in 1994. Three extra albums have implemented for the Pony Canyon label (R&R, Tears, Regular).
