Fried

Shaped in 2001 by David Steele (b. 8 Sept 1960, Cowes, Isle of Wight, Britain; guitar, ex-the Defeat; Fine Teen Cannibals) and Jonte Brief (b. New Orleans, Louisiana, USA; vocals). Steele initial saw ex-gospel vocalist Short executing at the brand new Orleans Jazz Celebration and realised she was ideal for a task he previously been planning over five years. The vocalist had been attempting to raise a family group while performing in regional jazz clubs, nonetheless it was the soulful inflection of her untrained tone of voice that captured Steele’s ear. Naming the task Fried after traditional southern American cooking food, the duo documented their debut record in New Orleans and London. The vintage spirit and R&B design over the self-titled 2004 discharge was an ideal template for Brief’s soaring vocals. Released over the London label, the record received strong testimonials on both edges from the Atlantic but was overlooked by record customers. Undeterred, Steele and Brief recorded three brand-new songs and agreed upon a new agreement with RCA Information. Renamed Things Transformation, the record was re-released in summer months 2007.
