Friday Night

A collaboration between two MCs, Serengeti (David Cohn) and Hi-Fidel (Umar Rashid) — both Chicago natives — Friday Evening initially formed for both friends to create music that allowed these to loosely explore the theme of excess within party rap and LA nightlife. Hi-Fidel, among the co-founders of F5 Information, a St. Louis-based indie hip-hop label which Serengeti acquired released several records, acquired transferred to L.A. in 2000 to pursue his music, aswell simply because his painting (that he uses the name “Frohawk Two-Feathers”). The strength, and irony, from the nightlife there still left the feeling on him, therefore he invited Serengeti to produce a concept album about any of it, some sort of tongue-in-cheek go through the sex-drugs-n-rock-n-roll attitude of both party rap (circa 1985) and LA. With production in the L.A.-structured Breakfast (Grilla and Ish), Friday Night tells the storyplot of two imaginary co-workers, Dave and Umar, who finish up out on the city together and come across some interesting situations. The recording was released in Dec 2008 as the 1st release from Breakfast time Information.
