Freitinhas

Freitinhas, a favorite author of Carnival marchas and music for revues in the first 20th century, had taken piano classes with Francisco Braga, having written his initial song in eight, the valse “Treze de Setembro.” At 17, he had been known as a composer, having released in 1912 the valse “Tarde” and, 2 yrs afterwards, “Amor Que Engana.” At 21, he was employed being a pianist by Casa Wehrs, being a sheet-music demonstrator. Wehrs was the posting home for his 64 compositions. In the same season, he began to compose music for revues and burlettas, the initial one getting the revue Zé dos Pacotes (Miguel Santos), accompanied by Ai, Zizinha (Freire Júnior) and Sol Nascente (Carlos Bittencourt/Cardoso de Meneses/Alfredo Pujol), amongst others. Also in 1918, he previously his initial hit using the fox trot “Vênus,” focused on Zezé Leone, champion of the initial national beauty competition. In 1921, Freitinhas released with achievement his Carnival marchinha “Zizinha.” He’d also have achievement within this genre using the marcha “Dondoca” (1927), documented by Margarida Potential in the revue Sol Nascente; “Dorinha, Meu Amor” (1929); and “Não Faço Searchão de Cor” (1933), the last mentioned having been honored with the Carioca mayoralty. Various other strikes of his had been “Café Com Leite” (1926), “European union Vi Lili” (1926), “Meu Suquinho” (1928), “Miserê,” “O Gaúcho,” “Um Sonho Bom de Recordar” (created with Roberto Roberti/Marques Júnior, 1926), “Teu Amor Foi Minha Vida” (1927), and “Vá Por Mim.”
