Freewheelers

Roots-rock combo the Freewheelers shaped in LA in 1989, buying a lineup of singer/guitarist Luther Russell, bassist Jason Hiller, pianist Chris Joyner, keyboardist Dave Sobel, and drummer John Hofer ahead of saving their self-titled 1991 Geffen label debut. Despite great reviews, the recording didn’t make much industrial impact, in support of in 1996 do the music group resurface, minus Sobel, using the American Information launch Waitin’ for George (therefore titled honoring maker George Drakoulias). In the wake of continuing general public indifference, the Freewheelers quickly disbanded; Russell after that mounted a single profession with 1997’s Low Down Globe and Other Tunes before reuniting with Hiller and developing a new music group, Federale.
